Established in 1850 with the original name Chan Santa Cruz (Small Holy Cross).
It is a place of great historical importance, during the Caste War and for more than
half a century they found the Cruzoob Mayans who created a singular society to
protect the “Talking Cross”, a christian symbol that the indigenous people
adopted and believed to be a way in which God communicated with the Mayans.
